Magical proved a class above her rivals with a decisive victory from the Qipco Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown.
Aidan O’Brien’s filly has spent a lot of her career that was admirable pursuing the brilliant Permit at the top level – however on her CV, she includes three Group One wins following this two-and-a-quarter-length success.
The 11-10 favourite had a fantasy passage, closest to the speed and generating far too much velocity for those in behind once Ryan Moore committed in the straight.
From the O’Brien team chased her home, with Magic Wand second and Derby winner Anthony Van Dyck another head off in third – at 12-1 and 20-1 respectively.
Japanese mare Deirdre was the horse in the race, immobilized for staying on best to finish and racing space once the pace quickened.
But there wasn’t any stopping Magical, who was a trendy winner since she took great advantage of Enable’s absence for after, in the process making herself quotes of 6-1 from 14-1 in Paddy Power and Betfairand if she try to take on John Gosden’s mare again in next month Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.
O’Brien stated:“We’re delighted. She had a midsummer break and also her first encounter was in York. Permit was run by her to a couple of lengths and we knew she was likely to come ahead a bit that was good.
„“She was just prepared to visit York. Obviously Permit is when we saw her running that well against her we had been excited about this race and also the autumn after that and a excellent filly.
„We knew she was likely to be in real good shape for today and I could not have been more happy with her.
„She is a beautiful filly. We understand she manages an ease from the floor and also gets a half and the mile, she was back to a mile and a quarter now on earth that is fast and she was given a beautiful ride by Ryan.
„She had actually come ahead from York. She came out and quickened how she did and travelled like this, Ryan stated she does not do much before, she is a filly.
„This is the second race of her autumn campaign program and she is really something to anticipate.
„The strategy was supposed to visit the Arc from here, but generally what happens is that we determine how they come out of it, speak about the lads and they find out if they stay about the programme or move another way.
„It’s something great to have to consider.“
